@JudderMan I completely agree! My dream solution is 4+4+4 (4 months home/Europe, 4+4 around the world in 2 different places), I'm studing SEO a lot just for this. In the past my "formula" was 4+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 (4 months home, 8 months around the world but always changing places), and I can tell you that when you start this way everything is fantastic, incredible, unforgettable, but... after some time, you start again to be a little "bored" and you need a place where to stay longer, make friends/girlfriend for longer time, etc.
That's why at the moment I changed again "the code" of my life and I'm doing 6+6.
@gooner, now I'm in Cali, Colombia (here I have the time for Seo), and the other 6 months I spend them in Italy (my main job, but sooo boring for me).
Costarica.... yes, it's a nice place, I have been there, but it's a little overpriced, it's full of US turists and expats, so the general costs are higher than other similar latin countries. Y español... no es tan dificil, si vives en un pais donde se habla español lo puedes aprender rapidamente :-)
Seems Costa Rica has the same problems as Bali then. Overpriced and full of expats.
@peterperseo - Sounds like a dream lifestyle, there is so much of the world to see. We are lucky to have the opportunity, for most people the 9 - 5 job means the best they can hope for is 2 - 3 weeks traveling per year.
My ex was Colombian, i wish now i listened more to her when she spoke Spanish - But we all know men don't really listen to their women )
Bali still remain a paradise... If you stay away from Kuta (ok, just some time for great parties ), the rest of the island is so quite and beautiful, and with so peaceful people
@peterperseo - Yea i'm too old for the parties anyway haha Thanks for the tips, i've heard only good things from everyone who has been there (Apart from Kuta like you said).
Even if they speak a little English, they can soon miss translate it and an annoyed Spanish woman can hit 10,000 Spanish words a second when they kick off :O
@peterparker - Don't get disheartened dude. For the the first year i was in this gig i didn't make any money, i couldn't even put food on the table for my kid and my wife divorced me. Plus pain from my busted arm and 3 operations because the first 2 were botched.
But now that seems like a lifetime ago, keep going and you'll get there. Success starts with a positive mindset.
I'm 43 and before SEO got me hooked my background was in ecommerce and before that, sales. My addiction to SEO started when I hired an in-house SEO to work for the ecom site I used to manage. I had a basic understanding of on-page and knew about all the "white hat" wank, but I was a total convert once I'd seen some of the stuff that was possible...
Plus, who doesn't love spanking the almighty Google?
@gooner I said Costarica is overpriced, but just in comparison with other latin countries near, anyway is always cheaper than US or Europe, so it worth a lot to live there, even for life costs, but much more for life stye
Bali, instead, is one of the cheapest countries where I ever have been! Yes, many expats, and many that go there to try to live there working with restaurants or renting houses... I think there is no much space for western people working there in normal businnesses, but SEO can be a very good opportunity, because you get dollars (and not rupias like working in normal businnesses there), but you pay rupias for living. Huge step!
And parties.... never is too late.:D If you are 35, I'm 47 and I go to parties at least twice a week here in Colombia, and once a week when I'm in Italy
I'm 35 and internet marketing is my main source of income now. It includes SEO of course, but also paid traffic conversion. And I gravitate to Android/iOS apps lately. Just opened a mobile development company.
Frankly speaking I started and dropped a lot of online businesses in the last 15 years. I've got my first few million dollars from adult projects back in late 90s, but I was young and irresponsible and wasted the most part of it on entertainment :-) However I bought a few offline businesses and commercial buildings for office rent income.
Last 2 years I got rid off all offline venues, because of tired of maintenance and management :-)
Living in Russia, Omsk (West Siberia). It's 300 days of sun per year, but home of extreme temperature differences. It was -37C last week, but only -2C today :-) And up to +35C in summer.
Love to live in Thailand and Vietnam in winter, but last 2 years it's problematic with my son's school schedule.
So only short family trips now. In the future I plan to move in Spain (probably).
