its down for me again. Was working gr8 till now.. :(I dont know why kelvin not improving his customer care..Such a gr8 product with bad customer service
Like a yo-yo, down for me again...of course it happened in the middle of the night again so all of my servers did 10% of what I expected. As a strong supporter of Kelvin @Spamvilla, I think it might be time to give MegaOCR a chance.
I canceled a few weeks ago. I can forgive a lot of things including poor support, irregular service, broken promises bla bla but when the guy can't even be bothered to come to this forum and say something... anything, then what choice does he leave us?
Are you guys checking the spamvilla site directly to see if the server is down or is there something I'm missing to know when its up or down via gsa or gsa cb? How can I determine not only uptime, but solve rate of spamv?
re megaocr I have that setup as the second service in gsa settings (cb being first with spamv set to be used only for recap via internal cb settings, not main gsa settings....hope its setup right!). it seemed to solve a lot of captchas when i first started using it but the past couple of days I am seeing zero captchas even being sent to the tunnel program let alone solved, despite no settings being changed
dbc set as last resort in gsa settings, though the balance hardly seems to be moving despite cb having a 49% recognized rate and 32% solve rate...and nothing seem to be sent to mega at the moment
update on the mega issue, i had enabled 'use as webserver' option in cb so that scrapebox could use it for its captcha needs, but apparently it is a port conflict for using it that way? i switched webserver off in cb and mega is picking up captchas again though at a pretty poor solve rate so far
anyone know if i can change the mega port settings to another port that will work?
and on a side note, if mega is setup to detect captchas via the decap api/port, why does scrape not pick up on that?
Yes, you can - here's how we have set it up on all our servers (5+ dedis) - it's just an example, it's probably worth to fine tune to your needs. We manage to keep the captcha costs to a bare minimum of maybe 20-30$ per day on DBC and we run several hundred thousand contextual links over all our servers per day. Needless to say its easy for us to switch to MegaOCR completely if Spamvilla goes down by just unchecking it in CB. It's not the most cost-effective setup, but the fastest for us while keeping costs very low.
In GSA SER
1st Option : Captcha Breaker with 2 retries
2nd Option MegaOCR with 2 retries
3rd Option: DBC with 0 retries only for dofollow links with PR1+
Man, this sucks...at 60% or so, megaocr isn't only the inferior solution but it's more expensive, too. Hopefully someone creates a spamvilla clone or buys the technology/license from kelvin. Spamvilla needs to get up again.

Recently Spamvilla has been up for me every time I checked it except once. Things are working well for the time being.
I heard Kevin was abducted by aliens and they have not returned him -- that explains why he does not respond anywhere... You gotta be a real dumb ass if you have not cancelled your subscription
A noobish question, but how/where do you guys check the spamvilla solving results? How do you know when the service is offline? I've been using the service now for a couple of months blindly, relying on the positive feedback of some contacts... My setup is: In SER 1st service is Spamvilla and 2nd CB In CB I have no additional options turned on, basically everything runs on defaults.

How did you get those free days? How did you contacted him?
Can those who are using MegaOCR share their experience a bit more? I'm thinking of changing.
