It's definitely not a scam, the product works and works better than anything else in the world. The problem is Kelvin (@Spamvilla) can't keep it running. I would imagine his servers are getting overwhelmed and he is in over his head with load balancing. His mother died which compounded the problem.
I think this is true because he sent out the email and it worked perfectly for a couple of hours before crashing again. That makes me believe that he restarted the server, everyone started hitting it and it crashed.
@macintoshies You can just issue a dispute to PayPal for refund. Although it takes 2-3weeks for PayPal to refund you, however it's a 100% refund.
I'm also tired of waiting SpamVilla to get things right. I'm issuing a dispute now. For these 2 months, I will head over to MegaOCR. And yes, MegaOCR should thank Spamvilla for that mess
reeve95545 for mega ocr how many project and how speed is possible for one instances gsa? i have about 30 project per one gsa with 300 threads speed, this will be work?
We think that a month of free use is the least he could (and should) do - our account has been unusable for roughly 12 days now, resulting in a few thousand dollars usage on DBC.
@Brandon Spamvilla servers should not get down only if customers use them, i mean thats all this service is about, you send requests to his server to get a captcha solved, it should not get down for that. If i were to predict i would say spamvilla lacks the security needed to run a service like this. If people can get this servers down with ddos attacks and the service will be down for weeks this easily, how about you take 5% of the income you made from the clients and invest into improving the security, maybe hire one man for support and this service will kick ass. I still trust Kelvin will turn this around, thats why i stick with him till now and didnt bitch about it at all, but its hard not to feel bad when you know you lost x,xxx$ due to downtime.(imagine all of us)
@mmtj from what i understood from bhw, he will only refund us the days it was down, so around 2 weeks only
yip finally up again and working great as ever .. i just hope kelvin now has time to handle all subscribtions again ..and hopeful something like that won't happen again
@eLeSlash I was more referring to the server crashing due to too many incoming connections hitting at the same time. That can definitely crash a server. I'm not defending him, he's making plenty of money to upgrade and hire someone to develop a fail safe as well as customer support.
A question for those of you that signed up with Mega OCR when Spamvilla was down - are you moving back to Spamvilla? Is Spamvilla still better than Mega OCR?
newbieseo I may try it again, but not for a while. I liked the service when it worked, but I have no time or patience for all the down time and lack of support. I don't want to have to always check if the service is on or not multiple times a day. If I pay for a service, I expect to get the service as promised.
This whole thing reminded me of years ago trying to find reliable proxy providers. I used to have to use 2 or 3 different providers at a time just to keep from having long periods of down time.
It's disturbing that he doesn't reply to any support requests and doesn't show up here. What is up with this guy? I just hope that some day someone with the budget like @crownvic comes over and buys out spamvilla, lol.
