PR-? too low problem

edited October 2012 in Bugs
I seem to be getting a lot of these PR-? too low. Tried it both with public proxies (just after having tested them) and without proxies...
Manually checking sites gives PR values

Is something wrong with "new: PR checking improved" in version 4.36?

Not on my end. Public proxies are no good idea...they will give you problems as everyone is abusing them on google I guess and they ban them than.
  • Yes, I know public proxies are not the best choice, but I tried also without proxies (the log above is without proxies) and I get the same result.
Temporary ban on my ip? Maybe, because last night I shut GSA off, so this morning I tried again without proxies for PR checking an for 15-20 minutes it could get PR, after that time always PR-?.
With newly scraped public proxies...it seems to be working now, let you know how it does...
  • After a few minutes I'm getting the PR-? again...

Am I the only one with this problem?

I'm quite sure it was working better than this and I always used public proxies...

2800 submission running over night then it kicked in

That was on a fresh reinstall done yesterday

  • Same here. For some reason every other gsa update makes it unusable for me. Not very happy about it.
  • LeeGLeeG Eating your first bourne

In my own case, it seems to be intermittent. It can run for hours without a glitch, then bang pr-? of doom kicks in.

Reset, off it goes again with what looks like one ip giving the pr-? of doom

The worst kind of fault to try and find

  • Gsa is a great software but I really wish Sven would permanently fix the issues it has.
For me the threads just completely stop. Works for 5 minutes than I'll either get the pr-? (even if I don't have the pr filter on) or the threads will completely freeze.
I haven't been able to use it since the last update and I probably won't until he updates it again.
  • You can always roll back to previous version.

"Search_Engine_Ranker_old.exe" in "...\Program Files (x86)\GSA Search Engine Ranker"

Maybe that helps for the beginning.

  • Thanks ozz but thats not helping either. My threads literally dwindle down to 0.

I can sent you v428 if you like to. Just sent me a PM within the next hour and I will upload it to you before Champions League Football is starting :)

Sam, what version did you last have a good run with?

I still have the exe here from 4.28 which was the version I did 32k submissions with in 24hrs of running

The exe will still work with the present back end of gsa

  • Sorry guys let's try not to mix things up otherwise the thread becomes unreadable and the problem does not get solved.
About the pr-? problem, I've been running with public proxies all day and I have lowered the threads number to 50, now 20. This seems to work so the problem is definately that in some circumstances SER requests too many pr checks and ips get banned. Keeping it a bit slower solves the issue.
Also I've had the impression that using site lists makes it worse cause maybe SER has to verify pr of many sites quickly..

Now I've disabled PR filtering...don't have other problems..
  • LeeG & Ozz, thanks guys! I had 4.28 backed up somewhere and I finally found it. 4.28 is working great now.

I really hope Sven fixes these issues.

Sibolo, how many proxies are you using?

Are you using private / private shared proxies or scraped?

If you get the pr-? problem, and restart gsa does the problem go away instantly

If its a google slap for too many pr checks, your normally looking at about 4 hrs of no pr checking on each ip thats been doing too many pr checks

If your running multiple private / private shared proxies and a reset cures the problem, its a sign gsa has a glitch. When I say cures the problem, you will still have the pr-? show, but not on every request

  • @LeeG I'm using around 200-300 public proxies scraped every 120 minutes and tested every 120 minutes.

    I didn't try restarting GSA, I'll have a try.

Sibolo, if your using scraped proxies. Try setting the time they are updated to a shorter period if thats possible so you constantly updating with new proxies.

Public proxies have a very limited time before google bans them

Or try some shared private or dedicated proxies. Which should cure your problem
