The only way that checkbox would prevent bots is through javascript unless Google has found some new, revolutionary, javascript+non-javascript solution. Doubtful though. We'll have to wait and see, good find.
  • Looks like it also analyzes user footprint, that means a not-logged in user gets more difficult captcha. Plus it uses timeouts as far as I can see.

As far as I know, this new captcha does indeed use javascript.

What is Google going to do, only allow people who have javascript enabled to use the website? Good luck convincing webmasters to implement this then :P

Haha ya, I sent @sven this captcha a while back when they had it on their website and he checked it out and I'm pretty sure mentioned it used javascript.
  • @BanditIM, actually it's ok.

On all of my sites I drop or redirect visitors that disabled js, just because it's probably bots (I allow known bots) or people that sneak something.
And it's less than 1% of my traffic volume.
  • Haven't seen one in the wild yet, and I suspect that 90%+ of webmasters won't bother to update the code on their existing sties.
  • it will raise the value of link aquisition on site protected with it, simple as that.
  • "Simplified layout conceals complex code. New CAPTCHA validation on the user's actions contained in the website continuously - both before and after tick the boxes."
  • Filled it today. You have to check the box and then fill the captcha.
