Public Proxys and setup?

TheGreeneTheGreene
I'm using Public proxies cause at the time im paying $50 for a vps everymonth and cannot pay any extra for anything like proxies. So im using GSA SER to scrape me some public proxies. Now my question is what are your settings for GSA 'Options' tab. For Threads, HTML Timeout, custom wait time etc... If you guys are willing to share I will be very appreciated thanks so much!

When I used public proxies I scraped 4 quality sources along with a list I scraped myself. I was using anywhere between 900-1500 threads, 120 html timeout, 5 seconds wait between search queries, scraped new proxies every 20 minutes if less than 300-500 (depended on the amount of threads) active proxies.

When I didn't care about verified links and just used my submitted site list, I could get a lpm of up to 600. You can calculate yourself how many submissions this would result in, in a day. But when running off my verified list and scraping I'd get a lpm of somewhere around 80 if I recall correctly. I had and still have an 8 threaded cpu at 2,67ghz, 16 gb ram, and a 100mbps connection.

It's impossible for me to tell you what options to use.. just pick something and try increasing and decreasing over time to figure out what gives you the best results. Remember that a lpm of 300 is worth nothing if you're only getting a tenth of the verified links with a lpm of 50.

I used anywhere between 300-500 threads to test proxies and a timeout of 40 seconds.

What does the timeout mean for the proxy settings?
