Import Target URLs Does Not Work

edited October 2012 in Bugs
Tried this today via the clipboard method and also importing .txt file. I get the message "X amount of urls imported into project(s)" but nothing ever shows up under the submitted column. Am I missing something here?

    - are they formatted with "http://" or "https://"?
    - did you have another batch of urls in stock from site lists, imported lists or SE results that SER is posting to before it makes use of your list?

you could also try to use the identifier in options -> tools -> identify and sort... to see if the platforms are recognized by SER.
  • The list is an export of "submitted" websites already scraped by GSA, so there is no issue with format or compatible engines. The number of URLs are being recognized, but nothing shows up under the submitted column.

It's simple to test. Click on your project, right click > show urls > submitted. Another box pops up and you click export.
Next, highlight and delete your submitted URLs. Try and re-import them (project > right click > import urls > choose file or even try clipboard). No urls are added, however GSA will state the number of urls imported. Once you click OK, none show up.

  • What does the log says when you re-import those URLs?

Stop all projects except for the one you want to import to and monitor the log. Copy/Paste the result in this thread or to pastebin.org.

I think there is a misunderstanding. If you import the URLs you submitted before without clearing the Target URL history, you can not expect to have them submitted to.
  • Projects were already stopped. I would never attempt import while projects are running.

    No log files either.

Here is screencast video of the entire process: http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cl6f61PuT

As stated earlier, you can easily check for yourself with the steps mentioned above.

You should start your projects after importing. SER will do nothing in the log when stopped. Once you started it the log will start too and you have "enabled log" checked.

I tested it and like Sven said you will get many "already parsed" messages when your "Target URL history" isn't cleared. No bug to me.

PS: Of course you can import URLs when your project is running
  • I imported the links, clear cache/urls, and ran project............it worked!!! :) Went through all links very quickly, as GSA didn't have to scrape, and I even got a decent number of verified submissions as well. Will make this standard practice for now, on when initial submissions don't get verified as I seem to have picked up more the 2nd time around.
