Alternative Url - how to use it

My footprint always finds http://subdomain.domain.com/members/
Registration url is at http://subdomain.domain.com/register/
Sometimes there is no registration links and urls in source code.
How should I use alternative url? I try:
1. alternative url=/register/
2. alternative url=./register/
3. alternative url=../register/
4. alternative url=http://subdomain.domain.com/register/ (tested it with one site ofcours)
Nothing work. Should I add something? If there is link in source code and I use "find url" or "find link" registration is successful, so problem is alternative url 100%. Tested sites with no registration urls and links in source code allow registration ofcours.

1. or 2. should work if i'm not wrong. @Sven uses "./register/" mostly in the scripts from my observations.

/register will not take the url path from where that site was found. It is better to use ./register if you are sure that there is no deeper link.
