We just released a new tool, not SEO related though.

Maybe it's useful for someone. I coded it for myself to keep track of all the different news sites I read.

  • This is interesting, I have a few questions:

    1. Is it possible to add websites without RSS feeds into this and get new posts?

    2. Can it create a rss feed URL of all sites added (aggregated) that can be used in other services?

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    1. yes, you can add anything and it will check for new headlines/links on a site and announce it.
    2. No, but you can combine many URLs into one news group. You can however not export that as a feed. What where your plans for using such a feed url?
  • Basically, the opportunities are endless for those who are using rss for marketing.
One example, we can use the feed urls of 10 sites related to one micro niche and create very targeted content.
Right now, I am using inoreader for this but can shift to your software (and many more will) if you can add this. Plus maybe a few more options..

well I can add it for sure...so you want me to export the content in a rss-feed file or url and also serve that data in an internal webserver accessible via 127.0.0.1:81/rss or alike?
  • A url preferably.
Also, the internal webserver url will be accessible by other public external web programs right?
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    yes thats the plan then.
  • Wow. Great, will be waiting for it.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
latest update has the "webserver" option included.
  • Awesome. Let me check that out.

oh, it was out the minute that I wrote about it, sorry for not getting back.
  • I purchased the GSA News Reader.

"yes, you can add anything and it will check for new headlines/links on a site and announce it."

When you say anything, do you mean any URL?  It doesn't have to be an RSS Feed?

So instead of an RSS Feed, I would enter in a basic URL: https://www.nbcnews.com/

and the reader will fetch any updated news headlines on that particular web page?

Or do I need to convert the basic URL to an RSS Feed, and use this instead?

Also, can you include the option to create folders, that way we can organize feeds into different categories. It would also help if we can arrange the feeds in any order (up and down) as a way to prioritize them.

    Thanks!
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
Yes you can use any URL you want. It doesn't have to be an RSS feed.
Folders are not really required as you can e.g. add multiple URLs into one Section and it will add them all there.
  • I tried plain URL, but the reader doesn't return anything.
  • Ok, it looks like plain URL did work.

Can you update it to allow reorganizing feeds and sections, either by drag and drop or keyboard keyboard commands. Sorting and filtering options would be nice too. I would like to move certain feeds / sections up and down, or drag and drop into other sections if possible.

I'm using a 4K monitor and though I can get by viewing the reader, the interface is quite small in some areas. Can you update it include the GUI Size option (100%, 200%, 300%, etc), as this can help improve the visual. I see there's an option to change the font size so reading the content isn't a problem, but the GUI can't be adjusted.
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
sorry for the late reply. Next version will allow you to change gui size as well as sorting the rss feed categories in list by drag/drop.

Thanks, @Sven. It's an excellent tool with lots of possibilities.

The only problem is that my anti-malware software goes crazy when I have this running.

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
hmm what is that IP all about? Can only be proxies being checked/scraped or your URLs/Feeds!?

I am unsure. I installed it, opened the program, and checked some feed content. I assume these are the IPs of the default sites it connects to get the feed content.

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
So you used the default / suggested sites only?

@Sven It looks like it is the Newsreaders \ proxy scraper that is triggering the Malwarebytes web protection module.
Does not show malware, just web protection.

I did a quick video and am sending it to you now.
