@viking true dat! I couldn't agree more. n00bs might be mislead by some case studies... very few people still seem to get away / get lucky with link blasts. But those are very rare examples.
Mistakes are quickly made... new users should definitely experiment on "testing ground properties" before running real campaigns. Sadly, many user overlook that point.
@BigGulpsHuhWelp These days the are. But back then, domain portfolios were. And it seems that the definition of a PBN varies quite greatly. When I read that term first a couple of years ago, I realized that I had been operating a PBN all along... just wasn't aware of the proper label
@12348766754 Not quite sure what you mean by that?
These days with SER you might never see results, but you might also see results depending on the niche and the country your site is in. For most even moderately competitive niches you need something better on t1.
SER still works great, even on its own for low/medium comp terms or local, but it's obviously niche dependent.
The 'problem' with it appearing not to work is that people spend a couple of hundred $ on SER and CB, go out and do the same thing that everyone else is doing, then wonder why they aren't getting the results they want...
i'm using it for local keywords. you HAVE to test. it probably wont be enough for like high competition KWs, but it will help for sure.
you find all types of interesting things that NO ONE talks about when you simply test shit yourself.
for example my first SER campaign ever was not a success from a higher rankings standpoint. but it did succeed at something else (negative SEO). it was VERY interesting the results from this, as I never would have expected what I did to cause rankings to plummet. ps don't ask me what I did, it's not something I'm going to expose. all I can tell you is it was NOT just spamming a money site with a bunch of shit links.
my 2nd campaign is a success. totally different technique than my first attempt.
someone says 'link wheels don't work anymore its so 2012', why would you just believe that at face value? test it yourself. test different variations of link wheels and tiered link building. google is changing so much the shit you read even a year ago could be irrelevant.
something else i've learned from simply testing is the whole logic of sending 'shittier' links the farther down the tier because its somehow 'safer' is probably complete bullshit now. i've seen t2 links cause serious problems. imo ALL links built should be of somewhat quality now

using gsa on tiers, how soon do you usually see the results? Min-max time frame?
This blog will have an article: BEST PROVIDES FOR ****
and then putting myself on No. 1.
