  • I got a Comodo EV SSL Certificate from Certera.com  at just $71.99/year which is much more affordable pricing compared to other resellers: https://certera.com/ssl/comodo/comodo-ev-ssl
  • Fast forward 2025, HTTPS is no longer treated as a direct ranking signal by Google. However, it remains a key trust and security feature that contributes to a positive page experience, something that can still influence search rankings indirectly. Maintaining HTTPS is essential for user confidence and overall site credibility.

Imagine I ever griped about switching over to HTTPS? hahaha Totally felt like it was a waste of time, but now I feel Google was right in pushing us to HTTPS via counting it as a ranking signal. The security layer helps. Undeniably. Unencrypted data blocks? For real? I was okay with that, when there was a choice? It seems ludicrous, in retrospect. Even for the most innocent of web sites, more privacy is better. I guess you could technically argue that it's unnecessary server load for sites that don't deal with customer data, etc., but at this point I see it as necessary. Then again, I was using FTP until quite lately.....always room to be more secure and realize where you're slipping up!
