How is GSA identifying

edited August 2012 in Need Help
When I import via Global Site List and the system scans the platform how is it recognising the platform type? Is it through the footprints in the ini? I ask as I have my own list with alot of exisiting user id's in the urls - so should this be trimmed to last folder, to the root or somewhere in between.

TIA

Usually the footprints are on every page. So it wouldn't mattr what page you import.
  • GSA scans the source code of the internet sites. If it finds a phrase/code/etc. that fits to "page must have=" in the ini-file of that engine, than it sorts the engine in accordingly.

Footprints ("search term=") are to find new targets but could also be used as identificators for "page must have=".

You don't have to trim your urls as GSA will recognise the site and move on to the registration site from there.
