Are variables suppose to be replaced when I click on "Test"?

If I put variables in the article body (%url%, %EMAIL%, etc), and then click on the "TEST" button to make sure I have everything set up correctly, are these variables suppose to be replaced in what I see? (Because I am not seeing them replaced.) Or do I just assume that everything is going to be ok with these when the actual submissions are done?

    yeah....I'd like to know the same thing before I go submitting to 1000s of places with a ton of variables in place.....

    Some are not replaced like the one mentioned. I can add that for upcoming version.
