Public Proxies

For some reason all my public proxies are emtpy and GSA can no longer find new ones? I've not changed any settings, does anyone know what this could be?

Do you mean in the proxy finder window all the sources are gone? If so you can click the "load default proxy sites" and it should load them back in.

If that's not what you mean, maybe it's something with yesterdays update.
  • I think something went wrong after yesterday's proxy scrapping update for some users.
  • yeah i cant get them back :(
  • use version 8.81 in the meantime its called Search_Engine_Ranker_old.exe in your gsa search engine ranker folder.

Thanks Zubido, nice trick, unfortunately my proxies are still gone and when GSA searches for new ones it doesnt find any.

@GSAisCool - Hmm ... and if you click that add/edit proxysites button, do you have multiple sources selected?

I just tested on my end and it pulled in new public proxies:

Hi yes the list is full of links, then I click "Add Proxy" -> Find Online, but no proxies found.

  • Here's a snippet from my log, all 190 sites say the same thing:

    Searching for new proxies...
    -[ 001/190 ]-[ proxylist.j1f.net 5 ]------------------------ -- -
    Download failed!
Result -> NOTHING Found! Check site.
    -[ 002/190 ]-[ proxylist.j1f.net 4 ]------------------------ -- -
    Download failed!
Result -> NOTHING Found! Check site.
    -[ 003/190 ]-[ proxylist.j1f.net ]-------------------------- -- -
    Download failed!
  • here is a screen grab of my proxy settings, I dont think this is the issue though:

  • i think once the same happened to me after an update and the problem was firewall. Firewall in antivirus bitdefender was blocking SER.
Maybe it is not related but still, check it.

indeed it looks like something is blocking SER from accessing the internet.
  • not sure why my firewall done that but thanks everyone :) I'm back :)

  • Been running a test one whole day. 12 hours of posting with only private proxies and then the same with public proxies.

And to my surprise, I see little difference between the two. >:)
