Always Use Keywords To Find Target Sites

What does this option do and mean?

Search engines need keywords to search. What does GSA use as the keyword when this is turned off?

Are these the keywords I specify in the Settings | Data | Keywords area? Meta keywords in the pages GSA scraped?

    Only a few engines actually use your keywords. Most of them have a list of footprints to find the target sites included and if you use this option, it will add the keyword to the search engine query even if it's not required.
