I have family in the I.T. business, and apparently Windows 2012 is a nightmare as it is extremely buggy, and will take time for MS to work out the kinks. In I.T., you don't want the most recent server version - at least not right away. One of my relative's clients installed 2012, and then reversed back to 2008. Stick with 2008 for now.

In 2010 I was doing a gig where I managed an IT firm's installation of 2010 MS Exchange Server for email. Huge, huge mistake. Microsoft server releases are always laden with errors the first year. Let the 'bleeding edge' companies that like new technologies be the beta testers. It can easily take a year before server releases are stable and debugged. It's basically the new users that debug it. Been there, done that. Never again.
