Elgg - problems and suggestions

Hi Sven,

I have found that i cant re-use some of accounts created from elgg cause when i export them, they are sometimes shortened to domain and engine is not able to found correct subdomain with elgg main page. Like this one - http://www.globalmyanmar.org/home/ - when i do export account, it is stored as http://www.globalmyanmar.org and when i try to log in and re-post, engine goes to http://www.globalmyanmar.org/favicon.ico and says this is not an elgg site of course...

Also i would have a new feature request for elgg - could you create more extra steps and do a bookmark and - if possible - file submission on elgg platform? There are lots of elgg sites that do allow that...just try these footprints - inurl:file/all "powered by elgg" or inurl:bookmarks/all "powered by elgg" like this site: http://www.onehappyisland.net.

I do see files and bookmarks submissions on elgg sites, probably done by Xrumer...

    I realized another problem with elgg - i have got MANY login failed messages after email verification. I found out that all these accounts are not email verified.

    Examples: http://www.onehappyisland.net or http://enterttainer.com/

    Well what happens int he log for you on these sites? For me it is waiting for the verification email and logs in + submits.

    Well, not for me.

    Here is the log:

    21:06:22: [+] 2/2 matches engine Elgg - http://enterttainer.com/

    21:06:22: [+] 2/2 registration successful - http://enterttainer.com/register
    21:06:22: [-] 2/2 login failed (class="elgg-message elgg-state-error") - http://enterttainer.com/

    It is not waiting for email verification, tries to log in immediately and then when email is registered, i got already parsed message...


    Edit: i have just found that as you have added bookmarks/file submission, no blog posts are being created anymore on Elgg platform for me :) I am getting just bookmarks, even on sites where both blogs and bookmarks can be posted (like this one http://www.socult.com)

    21:36:20: [+] 1/1 new URL - http://www.socult.com/blog/all
    21:36:20: [+] 1/1 new URL - http://www.socult.com/bookmarks/all

    ..and then bookmark is being posted. I though you will make it to try to create blog post as priority 1, and then maybe bookmark + file submission.

    Fixed in upcoming version. for your login problem see what the debug mode says.

    Hi Sven,

    i think there is a glitch in elgg.ini - %your e-mail% macro is not working because this part is missing in .ini:

    [Your E-Mail]
    type=email
    static=1

    Try for example this site - http://www.firmapankki.fi/activity

    I have just added this part manually to the elgg.ini - account created, blog submitted :)

    true, fixed it now for next release. Though it is only a problem if you have used elgg alone in a project (as far as i remember).
