Correct procedure when an email is black-listed?

What is the correct procedure to swap out an email address from your project when it comes up black-listed?
How do we replace the bad email without losing back-links that still need to be verified?

Good question. I've always verified emails then deleted it and put in new emails and assumed I would just lose anything not verified.
