Proxy Scraper Suggestions - Any Thoughts?

edited December 2024 in GSA Proxy Scraper
Hi there
First off, what I really like about the GSA Software development is that suggestions are acted upon very quickly.
1. The Last Suggestion, I suggested, was the one in which we can see what IP Address is being used.
2. When Testing "Proxies Against" a Filter was created to Delete Dead or IP's that were either asleep or dead
I use this GSA on Linux, and it seems 99% Stable
The Only problem that occurs is a rendering issue when I go from Normal size to full screen.
I'm not worried about that, as it seems Rock solid on Windows, and it's probably a driver issue on Linux anyway.
Suggestions !!
1. Could we please have any way of Filtering and deleting, or "Hiding" any Proxies within the "Reliability"
column
2. A Forced Timeout that will Strictly stop an IP that just sits there and doesn't respond within the Real Timeout
set
They Say, If it works "Don't Fix it" so to be honest, there isnt really much that I can think of to refine this
Software
3. The testing for "Gateways" never seems to work, now that is a useful option that would be great if it was stable
Thanks
Stay Safe !!

I finally found the time to look at your suggestions.
    1. the gateway detection had issues and it is working now in upcoming version
    2. I have added a new option to delete proxies automatically if the reliability is below a certain %
    3. I decided to no add a ping column as you have a speed column already
  • Hi Sven

    Brilliant work.
I look forward to the update

Hi Sven - It's looking good
    Brilliant Work !!
The Gateway function seems to be working well.
I will run it against a few Apps, but the main things is that I can totally avoid using "Gateways"

    Thanks

Hi Sven - As I am having time, I am testing the functions.
    1. One thing is that when some proxies are stubbornly sitting there and doing nothing, I decide to stop the test
by doing this, it assumes none of the Proxies are any good, with the message as below.
I think the Forced Timeout would eliminate this
    Not a major problem..
    2. When searching for "New Proxies or Importing them, the Gateways seems to work very well"
    Thanks Again
    3. It seems a lot Snappier and faster

    Hi Sven

Since the fact that VPN's are getting harder to use, I am focussing on GSA PS
GSA is now Software I would recommend, for many reasons, but mainly because its a Solid piece of Software, where you havnt Abandoned from your loyal customers
These Suggestions arnt something that have taken 5 minutes to think about.
I have been meaning to Post for a few weeks now regarding these suggestions
I still struggle when I use the Proxy Scanner, as it dosnt pick op many Proxies.
I have tested it on a Good known Range, and it still dosnt pick up the "Proxies and Ports" in that range
Are you able to Add this functionality?
    1. When I test the servers to use, Can we please have an Option to Test the Stats of the Servers please?
You added, the Option to Remove "Dead" Servers which was great
It would be great to be able to Filter out the Slow server causing problems.

    2. Resizing of the Main Window
This could be useful due to when I am trying to have a tidy workspace.
When I resize some of the GSA Windows disappears.
    3. When I am in test Mode, it seems that GSA is being Greedy and taking most of my memory, which means very little can be used in the Foreground.
    Stay Safe..
ps - I have to add that being aware of Gateways is good, its just the fact than I dont always want to see them

    Hi there
    I was just Going to....
Settings / Automatic Search / Highlighting all sites / Test all /
The test seems to stop, and the Ding sound implies that the windows is stuck behind the main window, and doesn’t respond.
The only way to Gain control seems to be Ctrl Alt  Task Manager End task
I hope what I am saying makes sense?
    Thanks

    Version 3.99

  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
Yes makes sense to e, but I can not replicate it...can someone else test?
  • Hi Sven

    Thankyou

Let me test later, when back at my PC

    Take Care

I was just wondering...what system are you running on? Is it Windows? A Windows emulation on some other system? If Windows, is it Intel or AMD? I find this running programs on an Intel-based processor seems to have these horrible issues with not being able to close windows. Odd, since Windows is written for Intel, I thought? Could that be it? Does this happen with any other programs? Sorry if this is way off-course, friend. :|
  • Hi Deeeeeeee

    I am Running

    Windows 10
    AMD Based Pc
    32 G Ram
    SSD Hard drive

I have recently updated GSA, and it didn't seem to be occurring.

Everything else seems to be working fine.
I thought the testing of sites had hung up because of a slow site responding.
The scan finishes without any problems but I cannot get rid of the window.

    Thanks again

  • DeeeeeeeeDeeeeeeee the Americas
Ritchievalens: Maybe you have a hanging thread because you went over-thread  with the search? I know that can happen with SER if you go too crazy with thread number for your set-up. Did you try decreasing threads and see if that helps? Did you prior get any pop-ups  about anything? Are you testing proxies with proxies? Maybe your time-out is like minutes?? See what it's set for, i guess. Again, sorry if this wasn't helpful.
    Thanked by 1Ritchievalens
  • Hi Deeeeeeee

    Thanks for the helpful suggestions.
I will watch this thread, to see if anybody else is having similar issues

    1. I can try lowering the threads
    2. I get no prior popups
    3. I am not using any proxies to scan with
    4. I updated my Kaspersky yesterday, and I will try...

    5. To disable Kaspersky
    6. Go back to the GSA Version before
    7. I will try the same version in Linux and see if it occurs.

Thanks, and I will keep you updated
    Stay Safe

  • Hi Deeeeeeee

So the Problem is still occurring, but I thought..

Let me try the test "not" in full screen, and as I thought the windows was in teh Background, which I couldn't close while maximised.
When the GSA is smaller size, I can press Ok, which is what the Ding sound is.

As you can see, I can access  the ok button in a smaller sized GSA  box

    Thanks
