Could We Get Generic URLs On A Per-Project Basis?

Sven, could we have each project so each has its own Generic URLs (in the Article Pane)   if we choose to NOT use the default file? Like we have for images and videos?
That would be great.

Maybe even better, but maybe not worth it, is this idea:

Maybe images and video, as they are now, could be changed? Maybe increased user options could apply to all three data sets, not just the proposed Generic URLs?
So not only would users have increased flexibility working with Generic URLs, but also with images and videos?

We could have something even better than a separate project-based set of data  for each the generic URLs,  images, and video, that are saved to fixed files associated with each project,  with the goal of making this data more easy for the user to work with.

Maybe, Sven, we could  also gain the ability to choose the file associated with each project on user choosing NOT to go with the default file when Random URLs is checked?
This could work for images and video, too...

Having a choice of importing any of the three...the images, the videos, and the random URLs...from other projects,  or just choosing from other projects by checklist or importing from file or just using the data in external file?
I know I would find this useful, and I'd be able to work with all this more easily. Not sure if other users would also benefit, but I would think so.

Thank you.

When using the data-folder option, you can put your generic URLs in that folder and have it per project that way.

Sven, maybe something like this? But also shows the Paused Projects, too? (And I guess the other active status types, too?!?)
Maybe also semantically makes sense in top group, or further up in menu, also less scrolling for something that you want to do quickly and frequently?

I will add it for the "P: projects|tiers (active)" bar.

Thank you, Sven, for considering this idea. I hope we all get some good use from this!

So sorry, Sven. I posted on the wrong thread. :| Can you please move this to the right thread? Sorry for wasting your time :(

Oh. I see. So, I just need to create the same-named file, and put it with that project? That, I can do immediately! Thank you for the reply.

@Sven: Finally getting to this. and realized I don't know what you mean. :|
How do I use the data-folder option for a project so I can add a specific generic URLs file for that project, only?

As it is, all my project-associated files are in the AppData "projects" sub-folder, as is the default.
Do I simply save the file as:

    Project-Test-Name.generic_urls.dat

    ??

Or, do I have to make a sub-folder with the project name, or something, in the GSA Folder in Program Files (x86)  and then place a generic_urls.dat in there??
    Thank you. I'm confused! :confounded:

Hi, again @Sven and GSA SER  enthusiasts. :)
I just re-read this thread. I had a crazy February. :| what else can I say? lol . I cross-posted three ideas. Sorry, all. :|

Anyway, Sven could we have this set so that if a user alters the default generic_urls.dat list for a specific project via the blue text that then opens the window with  your generic_urls.dat file contents, then SER should create for that project automatically its own generics file and I guess the project would have to note in the .prj  that we're now using the non-default generics file and instead the  project-specific file?

@Sven, could we please also maybe get a way to share custom  generic_urls.dat files between projects, rather than having to necessarily make duplicate files all over the place  of identical generic lists for projects using the same authority URLs?  Maybe even permit multiple generics lists? :dizzy:

If  each project saves its own entry in the .prj file, maybe something like this I guess??
Use_Custom_Generic_Urls_File=yes (...or list the file so we can customize this too)
(or even allow it to be set to just list other projects' lists we're using)
    Use_Custom_Generic_Urls_File= Project3_generic_urls.dat, Project4_generic_urls.dat

As there is a way of accessing the same exact list for URLs in every Article Pane for all projects already, that's just like videos and images. Quite unlike videos and images, this list is one for all projects. It only makes sense to do something like this, and allow greater flexibility and make this option in the Article Pane more useful. I know Sven is busy. But this makes sense. It seems that this should def be as the others.

Also, Sven I didn't understand about using the data-folder option as you suggested. I looked on all of the GSA board and manual searching for that string and I could find nothing. I'll keep looking online. Thank you, everyone. :)

P.S. I tested the idea by making a folder called Test-Project-Generics, the same exact name as the project,  in the Apps>>GSA>>Projects folder and placed an altered generic_urls.dat file within. The same generics list came up. This did not work.

I then made a folder called Test-Project-Generics in the root of the Search Engine Ranker folder on my C: drive and placed an altered generic_urls.dat file within. The same generics list came up, yet again! This did not work, either.
