There is an option Index-Check On

(default) is to check Domain.

This may be changed to one other option,  URL.

What is that for? Is that like manually doing the check SER does, to check if the place the link is pointing to is still live and has a  backlink? (hmm..no backlink would be needed. what if the link is pointing to the Money Site. There's be no link on THERE.) just a little bit confused...!

Well I thought this was obvious...

domain check is done with just the domain of each item to see if goolge knows of this site at all

url is a more detailed check if that full url is already known.

I am missing some obvious stuff. lol

So then with URL, the domain is checked, of course, and then the presence of the URL is checked as well on that domain?

    ughhhhhh. I'm still confused.

Let me explain back what I think this may mean:

If I check DOMAIN, SER checks whether the (Root) DOMAIN the link is posted on is indexed.

If I check URL, SER checks whether the PRECISE URL (on that root domain) the post is on is indexed.

    AND

NOT whether the URL *I was posting a backlink to* is present on that domain.

    Is that it?

Hmm..Should I then be checking using URL?

That is the actual test of whether the link page is indexed, no?

Isn't that what's most important, when creating links?

What specific scenarios is domain check best?

I can think of like when starting a new site and checking to see if the site is yet  indexed...

yes URL check is the most common one.

The domain check is done to see if this site is part of the search engine index at all.
