How exactly does GSA use stop_words.dat?

Hi,

Say I have:

keywords: widget

stop_words.dat:
blue
red
green

I have "Add stop words with query": 100%

Will GSA do a search for all of blue widget, red widget and green widget + footprint?

Or should I change my keyword list to blue widget, red widget, green widget if I want to ensure all get searched for?

Thanks!

with 100% usage of stop words it will pick one line from that file and add it to the search query. In your case it will do that "widget {blue|red|green}" for engines who use a keyword for target search and for all others only maybe without "widget".
  • Hi Sven,

Thanks for the quick reply. So if I understand you correctly if it searches for widget {blue|red|green} then there are some stop words that may never get searched for?

So, say I have 1 engine selected that has 1 footprint and my stop words are {blue|red|green}. GSA would go out and search for

    widget red footprint

(if red was the one chosen from {blue|red|green}) and stop there?

correct, but make sure that engine uses keywords (see legend at bottom).
