I ran it without using sitelists for over a year, and went from 30 projects to 150. But I found that I was hitting the ceiling, and I was becoming very lazy and inefficient.
You want to 'check' the verified folder in projects when you decide to actually use your own sitelist.
The biggest problem is that it can really slow down SER if you don't proactively clean that verified list regularly (once per week).
It is chock full of duplicates. And already dead links. The list of targets decays every day. So it is critical to use SER's cleanup tool *first* before doing this.
By doing that, you eliminate most of the "already parsed" messages, and then you will build links faster.
