Using Public Proxies : What do you think about my LpM ?

Hi,

I'm new to GSA and i started a new project with 3 tiers (thank you all for tutorials and helpful threads). So actually i'm using only Captcha Sniper and only public proxies for search engines.
This is my settings :

 - Threads : 80
 - Time to wait between search engine queries : 10
 - Automaticaly search for new proxies every : 20 minutes
 - Only on less than : 100 active proxies
 - Proxies threads : 60
 - Timeout : 5 sec
 - I'm using my computer at home : an Amd Athlon 64bits X2 Dual Core 4200+ (2.2 GHz), 2 GO RAM and my Internet bandwith is 8 MO

So actually for one project i'm at LpM between 8 and 20. And as use can see my configuration are poor comparing to VPS and other configs here. So what do you think? Can i expect a better results if i use Private Proxies?

  • So i'm wondering if buying Private Proxies really worth it ?
  • looks good @romulus, how many and which SE did you choose ?
  • I selected English SE so i have about 231.
  • @romulus I have been struggling with low LPM too but I can tell you that using private proxies does help. When I changed from public to private proxies, the LPM increased twice as much. Waiting for experts to comment here :D

Private or semi-dedicated will definitely make things better.

All computers have finite resources. Using those resources to scrape and test proxies is a waste if you have paid proxies.
  • 8-20 lpm with 1 project seems good in any case. Duplicate your project 2 or 3 times and you will know better what you can achive.

I don't really know about public proxies because I think they are too much maintenance to deal with.

Time to wait between search engine queries : 10
Maybe with 100+ public proxies this is fine but for private I use a longer time.

    Timeout: 5 sec
Is this HTML timeout? If so this is short. 120-180 sec is better.

    All imho. :)
