Captcha checking uses my VPS ip?

edited October 2012 in Need Help
I was a bit surprised to see this. I thought that when captcha is being checked by Deathby or any other captcha service that the actual ip being used was the proxy ip but no, it seems like your VPS ip is being used. When i logged in to look at my stats i saw my servers ip checking captchas.

How is this not leaving a footprint?

The bot goes out, sees the captcha then tries to solve it using my servers ip. Then what happens next? Does it switch back to using the proxy to continue?

  • Your IP is used in the connection between your VPS and the captcha solving server, no where else. Unless your captcha service has a habit of publishing logs, you have nothing to worry about.

Using a proxy for that connection would just slow things down
  • Right, but how do i know that for sure? Iv run into sitations where i clicked on a link created by CS then all of a sudden it says, your ip has been blocked, please complete the follow captcha to have your ip unblocked meaning my servers ip because i just click on a link. Wonder why its asking me to complete it manually to be unblocked?
