Understanding "Search Online For Site URLS" Option - Footprints

I am wondering what the best way to use this option is...

Should I be putting in the list of all the footprints I want? Or should I doing all the article footprints then saving them, then doing blog post, then saving that, etc?

Does it gather based on searches... meaning will it gather all blogs, articles, directories etc all at the same time? Or is it gathering all articles from one category then moving to the next category...?
