DO wordpress articles count as a submission?

I have set my project to do 50 subs per day and I'm seeing 2000 to 5000 subs. I'm seeing many WP articles. 

I figure these do not count as a submission, since on most of these you can't get an article submitted as it's only trying to register on them.

Is this correct?

    Yes, you are right. Real submissions are shown below on the status bar, therefore the number of these hundreds (or thousands) of "submissions" that is shown above next to the project name, is high cause it shows all positive steps towards submission (like registration etc).
