Both my sites google torments me by keeping me at postion 12/13 how can I escape to front page?

I know you guys will immediately scream ONPAGE SEO!!! I put social signals on there and have decent articles. Besides I know that can't be it because there are sites with no text and just images or very sparse content sitting pretty on the front.

So how the fuck can I break through?

Is it just a case that it takes more of a big push to move from top of second to the front?

Seems like google just wants to torment me dangling the carrot in front of my face but never letting me have a bite.

I've set up another aggressive set of campaigns of 40 projects each per site to try and push me over but only did them this last week or so so we'll have to see how that turns out.

    Higher quality links!

    If on-page SEO is good enough to get you to top of page 2, it's good enough to get you to page 1.
    This is a common problem, at least for me it happens a lot.

    High PR links will push you onto page 1, guaranteed ;)

    You can build your own private blog network, but i only suggest that if you have a lot of sites (and budget) to make it worthwhile.

    If not, you can buy them... Example: http://www.linksmanagement.com

    I've never tried that service but someone recommended it to me, so might be worth a shot.
