GSA has posted to other competitors in the SERP!!!

Have been using GSA for over half a year and this has never happened before. Now I have received complaints from the right and left. :-(

My settings are:
1) One URL in Data - URL.
2) In Article Manager I insert up to 1 random URL's for random words.

I can not understand what on earth has gone wrong? @sven Do you have any input on this?

I'm not able to understand what your problem is...can you clarify what has actually happened?

Ok. Here is a screen capture from an article.

Now I've found the problem. Of course, it is these lines that causes it.

    http://%anchor_text%.com/
    http://www.%anchor_text%.com/

Since I have many anchor texts, it's of course many who have these URLs as well. When you then run a churn and burn project, guess what happens...
  • Something is still weird.

There are several Swedish domains (.se) that have received my links by mistake. But according to generic.urls.dat there should only be .com domains which would be the target for random URL's. I´m using the default file.

    http://%anchor_text%.com/
    http://www.%anchor_text%.com/

This becomes confusing. Anyone have any idea about this?

If there are free search engine capacities, it uses search engines with the keyword to find target URLs and places the link than. Just if there are no free resources, it uses the file.
  • Maybe it would be good with a little warningtext. In case of "churn and burn" be careful with this function.
    It is easy to miss.

Well you want to turn random links to anchors, thats what you get here.

    Feature request: Random link blacklist

    edit: global
  • this is a big issue, there is a huge buzz on the net right now because of that, competitor sites are getting spam and they complain to the affiliate programs, some account get flag as hackers/spammer.

Those Big competitors see that as i try to Negative SEO their sites, and as they are some big client they just ask affiliate programs to blacklist the accounts that use this. resulting in lose of money in that account and being banned from those affiliates account.

Sven is it possible to to something about this? maybe to disable this or not to point to affiliate sites but only on sites like YouTube etc...

Are you getting upset by this? It's good for your own SEO to have articles linking to you + competitors, even on your own website, try it! They will benefit from link juice but so will you and looks more natural. I try to link to my (authority) competitors' websites whenever I can.

Yes, it would be good if we could do something about this.
I have a hell now deleting thousands of links.

Another issue. Have exported all acount data via Account Export function under Tools. Have noticed that all XpressEngine have incorrect information. Can not log in on any of these pages. @sven do you know what can be the problem?
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
XpressEngine have no accounts, they don't login/register.

well, maybe you are right spunko2010 but i don't think a white hat competitor site care about my SEO, they just see that as an attempt to Negative SEO, and as they are huge client, affiliate programs ask no question and blacklist the accounts.
  • and BTW, i am not upset at all, LOL.
I am just telling you that there is a huge discussion on the net about this and people know exactly that this come from GSA tools and they can identify the user that spam, it is just unnecessary to bring more heat on GSA especially after that last penguin update that hit GSA user pretty hard.
  • and BTW, this is a good time to check yourself and ask the question that if some competitor sites can identify your spam pretty much with no problems maybe you are doing something wrong with GSA?

Anyway, Its a Big No No checking this if you doing churn and burn.
  • Or, edit the generic_urls.dat file like you should be doing. Otherwise take some bloody responsibility for your own actions (or lack of).
  • please not that you have http://www.%anchor_text%.com/ X2 in that file
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
v6.83 will allow you to turn this off + use custom generic URLs per project.

@John_S big no no telling people to avoid using that more like.... Do an SEO analysis of top sites articles, they sometimes have 10+ links to authoity sites in. If you edit the engine file it's a great tool.  500+ article links to your site and only have 1 link per article, Google isn't that stupid. ;)
  • I made a suggestion to @Sven for us to use our own list of sites for that option. He said he will. Until then just don't use it. :)
  • Thank you Sven, this is a great think to have, if someone want to spam his competitor it is on his own risk.

    Great @pclweb :-*

It's damn turned off in all projects now. Waiting for v6.83

But the question is whether it is enough just to remove these lines to get the problem out of the world?

    Line 1 http://%anchor_text%.com/
    Line 2 http://www.%anchor_text%.com/
    Line 15 http://www.%anchor_text%.com/
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    v6.83 is out already.
  • @sven How can you be so fast?? incredible :)>-

If you don't know what something does, why would you check the option to use it in the first place?

As mentioned, it is a great option to have, especially if you edit the file to make it relevant to your niche, but why on earth would you want to use it for churn and burn campaigns? :-/
  • It is not just churn and burn. Tier 3 as example can of course also generate thousands of links.

oh @Sven so i can put spintax inside the generic_anchor_test.dat file ? (sorry a bit off topic)
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
What does generic_anchor_test.dat do? It's not used by the program, but yes, spin syntax can be used anywhere.
