Question about matching article with article titles & summaries

edited October 2012 in Need Help
As is often the case, it is hard to keep up with all the updates sometimes. Just found out about the new (from 4 updates ago...geez!) #TAG feature that will match articles with titles. I have a couple questions?

1.) Is the same feature available on the Article Summary?
2.) Can this work with the %spinfolder%? If not, could this be added?

I currently have a project that is like this...

Article Title ----> %spinfolder-J:\Article Titles\%
Article ----> %spinfolder-J:\Articles\%
Article Summary ----> %spinfolder-J:\Article Summaries\%

In each folder, I have several Titles/Articles/Summaries. These are currently all generic enough that the Titles/Summaries can apply to any of the articles. It would be really nice to be able to use this method even when the articles/titles/summaries are different. File#1 in each folder would be associated, File#2 in each folder, etc.

    upcoming version...
    - new: spinfolder macro will try to use same file name
    e.g. %spinfolder-c:\articles\% has article1.txt, article2.txt...
    %spinfolder-c:\summary\% has summary1.txt, summary2.txt...
    If article10.txt was used, it will use summary10.txt as well.
  • That will be great Sven! Thanks!
  • Sorry if I dig this old thread up again.

    Will this work if %spinfolder-c:\articles\% has title001.txt, title002.txt...
    %spinfolder-c:\summary\% has title001.txt, title002.txt...

    If title001.txt inside articles is used, will it find the match inside summary as well?

    yes thats how it will work.

    @Sven

    If I have an article filename:
    1) iPhone Apps - Title
    2) iPhone Apps - Summary
    3) iPhone Apps - Body
    4) iPhone Apps - Author Bio

    and I have another article:
    1) iPad Apps - Title
    2) iPad Apps - Summary
    3) iPad Apps - Body
    4) iPad Apps - Author Bio

    1) What part of the filename is it using to match them?
    2) What format must we use so it matches? Must it have "Title" so it knows it's title? Must it have a number?

    the file name in the folders should be the same.

    As per your previous statement:

    "spinfolder macro will try to use same file name."
    e.g. %spinfolder-c:\articles\% has article1.txt, article2.txt...
           %spinfolder-c:\summary\% has summary1.txt, summary2.txt...
           If article10.txt was used, it will use summary10.txt as well.

    BUT

    Here your files are called "Article1.txt" and "Summary1.txt". These are different filenames surely?How does it link these?
  • SvenSven www.GSA-Online.de
    In that case it will also work as it would match by the number in the file name.

    I think I have got it...just restructuring everything, and now working on all the document filing.

    1) Folder TITLE-->          iPad Apps - Title.txt
    2) Folder SUMMARY-->  iPad Apps - Summary.txt
    3) Folder BODY -->        iPad Apps - Body.txt
    4) Folder BIO -->            iPad Apps - Author Bio.txt

    This wouldn't work it would rather need to be:
    1) Folder TITLE-->          iPad Apps - Title - 01.txt
    2) Folder SUMMARY-->  iPad Apps - Summary - 01.txt
    3) Folder BODY -->        iPad Apps - Body - 01.txt
    4) Folder BIO -->            iPad Apps - Author Bio - 01.txt

    So it could then match the numbers?

    Thanks for your patience...about to go and edit hundreds of files...so just checking it's correct.
