submitted vs. verified

It seems like I've got an awful lot of verified links but the submitted links are a lot less than the verified. How is this possible?
Example: submitted 11,  verified 2,567

Oh so it's not a bad thing? I just thought it looked strange seeing more verified than submitted.

^Not at all. That number reduces as cherub said and eventually gets added in the verified column once a submitted link is "verified".
