%random_articlemix<level>% useage

I have tried using the %random_articlemix<level>% macro in a submission but it doesn't appear to be working.
I placed this - %random_articlemix1% -  into the Article body field but when I checked the verified links from the submission, the Article links did not contain any article.
Am I missing  a step somewhere?

    No clue, maybe your keywords or anchor texts (whatever you use as tags) don't return any article?

    my keywords were fairly generic so i would have expected quite a lot of content to be available.
    They are all XpressEngine submissions if that makes a difference?

    Shouldn't make any difference no. Have a look into the file <projectname>.rnd_content manually and see if articles are present.

    where would that file be found? Can't seem to locate it.

    It-s ok - found it - that file looks like it just has a list of random images which have been collected - no articles.

    Indeed no articles here. Please check if content_search.dat has actually "type=article" lines in it, else it's not up-to-date.
