Forum post warning message

Sorry, bit of a newbie question. If I select the Forums option in the left-hand menu but de-select the types to post to: Forum Posts option (under Options) , does that mean it'll skip forum posts? Or create a Forum account and place the link on the Forum profile page ( Assuming I have the Profile option ticked...). Not really sure on the difference between these 2 options.

    The Forum Post is actually putting a new topic or replying to existing once on the forum. If you uncheck it, it will not do that and only create links in profiles. If you have that unchecked as well it might not use the engine at all.
