No, even though you can script it like that, it is not doing so as people don't want e.g. http://www.youtube.com to be submitted when they are only interested int here sub link. If people use deep links on directories they propably get not much submitted on directories.
Indeed this is a good point that was not pointed out before (though everyone should know that directories usually only take the main url with no deep link and no sublink).
