Improve engine

Whenever we read "improved _________ engine" in the version history, does it mean that the specific engine has been improved and/or that better/more footprints has been added that yield more targets? Just want to be sure.

Usually improved means something like:

1. another submission type added 

2. footprints improved

3. verification task improved.
