    I created an ini file, placed it in the engine folder, and restarted the program, but the target checkbox on the right side of the GSA program is not displayed.

    Take a look at the existing engines to see what they have for their [SETUP] section, and try and follow that template as much as you can. Specify a unique 'engine type' for your engine so you can easily locate it, eg

    engine type=ne91802232
