GSA PI: Not identifying custom engine

Hi!

I created a custom engine in GSA PI. I required one line of text, and one word in the url. Confirmed I have multiple pages matching in my url list. GSA PI doesn't identify any of the pages as matching the custom engine.

did you copy your engine file with "page must have" and "url must have" lines into the folder where the other files are lying?

I didn’t. I followed the instructions in the manual: https://docu.gsa-online.de/gsa_platform_identifier/custom_engines
  • @Sven I looked for the custom engine file in the engines directory but it is not there. Are custom engine files stored somewhere else?

Same folder, just copy them there.

I don’t see the engine file. There’s isn’t one. Is that normal? The manual says just make an engine in the app. Then it’s ready to use. But even if that’s not the case anymore for some reason I still am not understanding what I am supposed to copy. There’s nothing there related to the custom engine.

As for now I have this working in scrapebox so I am able to do my work easy. But I’d like to see GSA PI do it because I don’t know how long scrapebox will be supported. I have many custom engines I am working on.

at the location where the executable of Platform Identifier is, you should also see an engine folder with the SER engines inside (ini files). You should copy your custom engines there as well.

Ok. The manual didn’t mention that I had to also make the engine files for custom engines. But I don’t mind. I looked at some of the example engines for the software and I am not sure what’s required in the file. They look like engine files for SER. There’s a lot of information in them.

Do you have an example engine file I can see so I can make them quickly?

    Thanks

all that GSA Platform Identifier takes from these files is...
    [setup]
    page must have*=*
    url must have*=*
