Help With Choosing CPU

Hello,

I've got to the point where I need to buy a new PC because my CPU is running consistently at 100%

This is what I run on the PC:
GSA SER - 150 projects, 100 threads, 10 semi-dedicated IPV4 proxies
RankerX - 150 projects, 100 threads, 10 semi-dedicated IPV6 proxies
XEvil - 100 threads and 100 IP6 proxies

I'm looking to buy a secondhand cheap but decent PC, the PC's I'm coming across online seem to be gaming PC's which I think I will need to buy.

My main problem is finding a PC with a decent CPU in it, these are the CPU's I'm looking at:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
AMD Ryzen 9 3950X
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

From what I can tell the more cores I can get the better and the 50X CPU's have 16 cores compared to 12 cores on the others, will this make a big difference? also, it seems to be harder to get hold of PC's with the 5000 series so I'm thinking about getting a 3000 series, maybe the 3950X if I can find one.

What CPU's are you guys running?

@sickseo I notice in one of your other posts that you have the 5950X, did you have a 3950X before this?

Thanks

I'm renting my dedi servers from hetzner.  Currently using the 5950x (16 core) and EPYC9454p (48 core).

For just those 3 tools at those threads, the 5950x will be enough. Xevil is the one to worry about. It can consume crazy cpu and memory as you increase the threads. But my xevil on this server can handle 200 threads max, so you should be fine with 100 threads.

Can't comment on the 3950x performance. Don't remember ever using that cpu.

Any reason why you're not considering renting dedis and vps instead of buying?

Have a look at the Ryzen 7950 from Hetzner - Dedicated Server Hosting.
I use it with GSA SER,  Xevil, and some other tools.

I have some powerful desktop PCs at home, but renting dedicated servers from Hetzner and other hosts is much better than keeping a desktop PC running 24/7

But if you decide to buy, get the biggest and most powerful CPU you can afford, invest in a good power supply, and get 64GB of the latest RAM. Go with AMD Ryzen instead of Intel, and if you have the budget, go for the AMD Threadripper CPUs.
Remember, what you buy as the best today will be average in a year or 2.

  • I have been looking at Ryzen 9 CPUs as well, and I think you could run more threads than you think. I am currently using process lasso to optimize my performance on old Xeon CPU and it works perfectly

  • Thanks guys, just bought a PC with a 3950X, will see how it goes and if not I'll change it to the 5950x. They seem very similar so I'm hoping it should be fine, fingers crossed. Will let you know how it goes when I get round to setting everything up.

How many rams did you bought in this set up? I am pretty eager to see your results, I might buy the same cpu.
  • onlineopti I've had it running most of today and it's been working fantastically! I'm running 100 threads on GSA, 100 threads on RankerX, 100 threads on XEvil and also GSA CB. It's running steadily at 20-30% CPU usage and around 20GB memory and is nowhere near the 64GB that's installed :)

I would definitely recommend the 3950X if you're on a budget.

@sickseo royalmic My LpM is at around 40 and I'm noticing some proxies errors and wondering if I should split the proxies for example I'm using 20 proxies on both GSA and RankerX, would I be better using 10 of them on GSA and the other 10 on RankerX rather than then both using the same 20 proxies? What do you guys do?
