Filter file/blacklist from old school Charon redundant?

I'm getting back into proxy scraping/usage again more heavily and am sorting thru old folders/files...

I see the gsa proxy scanner software, which I bought, has a "dangerous ips" file which is great...

And I realize this might be kind of a dumb question but just wanted to throw it out there.

I have a folder of the old school Charon proxy tool from back in the day, literally 20 years old now...and there is a similar folder in there "filter files" and just skimming thru that and the gsa dangerous ips file I see alot of similarities as far as filtering gov/edu type stuff which makes sense to avoid issues.

Would there be anything of current use from the old Charon filter files, or would all of that be outdated or already fully integrated into the current gsa program?

I guess 20 years is a bit too long, but it would not hurt adding that.
  • Filterfiles.ini are useful but I should imagine its IP Ranges and Domain names that need to be avoided.
IP's Change and after 20 years definately

Nostalgia! Exactly what I'm looking at...I dunno enough about how this stuff works specifically to comment either way...which is why I phrased it how I did, just in case...can't be too careful it seems with particulars like this to avoid actual potential issues.

No idea if/how often ip ranges etc cycle in/out or if they would ever be available down the road for public use after certain private/gov/edu use etc.

I messaged u a zip of those files to take a look at if they make any sense still

@googlealchemist - Basically it is a list of IP / Domain names to be avoided

    For example
Opening up media.ini which is basically a Text File will show you this
Which is a 20 year old List

    Small Sample
    # Hollywood Entertainment HOLLYWOO426-4-144 (NET-12-108-4-144-1)
    12.108.4.[144-151]

    # Hollywood Entertainment HOLLYWOO847-4-152 (NET-12-108-4-152-1)
    12.108.4.[152-159]

    # Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios ATTENS-008709-001723 (NET-12-129-196-32-1)
    12.129.196.[32-39]
    12.129.196.[32-39] Means
    12.129.196.32
    12.129.196.33
    etc up to .39
https://www.iplocation.net/ip-lookup will show you that it is owned by AT&T now
It might have been back then, I'm not sure
