Question about email checking by SER

Hi,
While SER is running I am monitoring my email box.
When SER shows "parsing x emails" and "x emails checked" and "email verification finished" I can see these emails are still marked as unread in my inbox, meaning they have not been opened/read.
Is it normal ?
(using directbox.com right now, and the chicking test was positive)

    when I tick the option to delete emails after verification it does delete them though
    If I dont tick this option the emails stay on unread, this is very confusing because I dont know if SER read them or not. I guess it read them?

    pop3 access has nothing like "unread" or alike. It's something the client remembers.
