GSA SER Article Authority Links

DeeeeeeeeDeeeeeeee the Americas
I was wondering how SER deals with the URLs we put in.
Does SER then look for a Search field and search on whatever page we enter for the chosen anchor in the article?
Or, are the pages we put in linked to in the article, and that's the end of it?
Thanks to anyone who knows.

  • The authority links are added into article in format that is file or however you extend the file. Should be adding them into article only as you set it.

    This is example:
2.http://www.some-url-you-can-insert-here-following-a-different-format.com#the keyword1 to link for, keyword 2 you want to link for

So for 1 it should add a link into the article using your anchor text. Then if a reader (found your article) and clicked on it, it would bring them to you-tube searching for that anchor text term results wise.

Are you asking if it then goes through your article and clicks on the authority links to visit other websites?

Out of the box, I think the answer is - it's just adding to article, but maybe I'm wrong.

Ahh...OK, I think In get it.
    Thank you, @backlinkaddict.

One other Q tho: The file for an individual project would be accessible via the Edit button I wrote about in another recent post? (https://www.gsa-online.de/gsa-forum/#/discussion/33579/phantom-edit)

Is there also a universal default file SER uses if the per-project list is blank?
    Thank you!

  • Yes, that was the file I got example the from. That file opens for me also, it did take a minute to open, but it did. There are links in some formats to start in there, but like most data files in SER probably best if you can extend them further or even delete some data from some that may not make sense for your projects.

In another discussion, I mentioned how I delete the add stop words data and add my own small list of English stop words. It doesn't make sense for me to be searching with some of those characters as stop words in certain search engines. Likely would just ban faster and start throwing harder captchas. That's some obvious bot behavior right there if you ask me.

Of course there are other ways to scrape, many files to edit and macros to use. I think it's best to personalize SER for your need!!

The other question - I don't know why it would be blank?

Authority Links: Ok, so the file that opens for you and not for me and a few others (as of now) has a list of let's say, Google, etc? I think I actually had worked with that for some projects way back when. Maybe even fairly recently, too? Is the default for each project defined in yet another SER file? If so, which one? (That may be what I changed when i first started playing with SER)

Stop Words:  Good idea~!! Oh, I really never considered what this does. Hmm...Yet another overlooked  detail to explore! I don't know how I missed the significance of this...

Scraping: Yeah, I used to try harder not to seem bot-like. I don't mean on this board. :| lol Scraping-wise. :| I think playing with delay between searches on same proxy is a good idea to try first with some issues of banning.  I'll think about your post and try implementing different scraping strategies that are more complex and varied.

Blank: Oh, I guess I  wasn't remembering ever opening the file, but I am sure I did. So I guess unless the user deletes them all from the Project file, there would never be a reason for a blank.

I need to look at SER as though it were all new to me. There's probably a lot I'm still missing.

@Deeeeeeee there's so many options and things to change/edit even Sven has mentioned he forgotten some things he programmed many years ago.

Yes, there are other ways to get to files and edit them. 1 way is to right click on SER on your desktop and open file location. Others should be in appdata. There are some .dat files in there you can play with. The titlegen.dat may be a good choice to extend and add some viral titles that are popular today for your niche or type of content your posting. For example, I'm not huge fan of the {1|2|3|4} ways  in my titles since I'm not posting many lists I don't see this matching up nice with my articles.

Can make a new category if want [favorite titles] same as [how to]. Then you'd have your own category of titles you like and can select them easier using title generator increasing quality of your titles. That's just one example. There are files that you can create that don't come by default even. Just follow format in file really.
Stop Words:  Good idea~!! Oh, I really never considered what this does
There was recent discussion about this - long of the short adding a to or there to your footprint can sometimes give back more results which can be more targeted and let you "parse deeper" into index. So it will sometimes bring back results you may have missed otherwise. Try it manually - it works. Sometimes I will set 10-20 percent if using the SER feature and scraping. If using other scrapers just paste in footprints and append the list. It really depends on how and what scraper your using. SER is doing this for you automatically so it may be harder to notice.
