Blue Active state smashes the CPU

I'm wondering the difference with this activity as to why it's so incredibly CPU intensive.
Submissions seem to be very light activities when verification is very heavy.

Just wondering if there's something wrong here with something I've configured

    Thats hard to say as verification means 1. email checking and/or download of URLs and check for the placed link.
    Try switching to "Active (email verification only)" and check if the cpu usage is still high. IF so, please send me the project backup for review. Maybe there is some room to optimize this.
