just import your sites to the projects via right click ->import target urls + disable any other sources in project options like search engines or site lists.
I agree with you. Having the option to select a specific custom list on a per-project basis will make a lot of sense.
Importing the site list directly into the project is an option. But it will bloat your database very fast, especially if you have a big site list of several GB and must import it multiple times, whereas if one can select from a custom list, then it does not matter if you have 100 projects; it is all using the one site list only.
If one can specify the custom list on a per-project basis, then it will be much easier to have multiple niches to which one constantly adds projects.
@Sven It is always easier said than done when it needs to be coded. Maybe one can have a dropdown following the Custom site list, which shows all your custom site lists, and then an option to select the ones you want to use for the specific project.
