Should users EVER add to Regular Sources?

I notice adding a  Custom Source has the added input of # levels down to scrape.
What happens when I enter the same source as a Regular one? Does the program scrape down a certain number of levels?

    When the program updates, will new sources always be added to Regular?

    Would I then lose any additions I made if not placed in Custom?

    your custom created sources will not get overwritten with updates
