Any way to make software bypass ads?

I am noticing that ads are appearing in my keyword research results.  The software is telling me that the #1, #2, #3 spot competitors are actually ads that are only appear at the top because of that and the software is counting them as the top positions for some reason.

    Is there anyway to make it so the software doesn't count ads in the top position?

    Actually nevermind, it seems I was running an older version of the software.  Now that i've updated it to the latest version it isn't showing the results for ads anymore.

    It seems that the software is again picking up ads and putting them in the top results to compare against.  I just ran a competitor research for google english and top 6+ sites it fetched were all ad sites.
