Anyone have any data on page load time and ranking?

Wondering how important it is to be on a faster server.

Should I wait until I have a need for it, as in more users, or will it help with rankings, overall?

Well google ranks sites down if they are slow, thats a fact and an important ranking factor. Though I don't know how much that couns really.
