Can someone explain to me how "sitemap" option in URL section works ?

GSA SER's sitemap crawling option is so cool. However, I can't find anywhere that tells how to do it right. So there are several questions I would like to ask you guys for help.

  1. It says "use <sitemap> and <link>. Should I use both sitemap and link here. is <..> is the format to insert sitemap into this section. What is the correct way to add a sitemap to GSA URL section (eg this sitemap: https://smartcartt.com/sitemap_index.xml )
  2. How can I add a sitemap of a single category in this categories list of sitemap https://smartcartt.com/category-sitemap.xml
  3. When I add a sitemap there, does that mean there won't be any URL till new post added to my website ?
  4. While creat post, will GSA take the title of the posts (crawled from sitemap) to be anchor text ?
  5. If anyone here is so kind please explain for me the RSS Feed option of GSA too. It says " üse <title> and <link>". What does this mean?

please let us know what you mean with "sitemap crawling". There are two ways to get that into a project.
    a) by using the crawler and parse sitemaps and there urls
    b) by using a macro so that SER will crawl the urls on it's own each time you start the project and also update it while running.

Sorry for not explain it clearly, I meant when you create a new project, in the Data tab, there is a URL option that we can add sitemap to.

so it's the macro usage then....<loc> is parsed out but no <titles> or anything. Just the URLs from that sitemap. As anchors it uses the normal defined one from project.

If you want url and anchor to be dynamic, you should consider using RSS feeds instead as you have title and url in it.

Oh, I think I almost get it. Thank you very much. Can you confirm the following so I know that I was right.
    1. To make GSA get the latest urls from my website, I just add the feed link to it, right ?. For example: https://smartcartt.com/feed/
    2. If I want to get the latest URLs from a category in my website, it would be: https://smartcartt.com/shop/feed/ for the latest products in shop, it that right ?
    3. In this option, the titles will be used as anchor text, right ?  (along with other anchor text options of the project)
    4. When GSA running, how often it will crawl my feed for new URLs ?
Thank you very much for your help so far. Sven, you are the best. You are one of the reason keep GSA the best tool in the market.

    1. On that screenshot from above you choose "Add RSS Feed"... Do not add the URL alone, but with the macro that this menu-option adds.
    2.correct
    3. yes, but the titles should not be too long, else SER will ignore it
    4. like every 30 minutes.
