Can you explain how this setting works? What kind of thing has to be seen by SER for this setting to apply?

    you can use "download retries=xyz" and SER will try to download or post content to a site the set amount of time till it gets a response. It will end the loop when it gets a response. It will switch the proxy as well.

    "download retries=xyz" -  Should this be set to more than one?

    Does doing so then help not to lose a good backlinking opportunity if the proxy isn't working, for instance, at that moment, but otherwise the site works with one of SER's engines, and the CAPTCHA is defeatable?

    andrzejek response as in anything given back from the server like a status code, http traffic...ifthere is nothing, it tries again...for submission it also tries sending data again.
    Deeeeeeee is it's cause of a proxy, it will try another proxy automatically.
