This used to work. Most of my projects have a spinfile macro in the URL field that has a .txt file with a list of URL's to promote, but now I get warning that it needs to start with http or https when I do any URL edits.
@sven - here's a little test for you to see why I use macros.... ;-) I'm in Austria at moment so have a 10mb line and it's lightening fast here...but where I come from if you're often running on a 1mb line. Not quite like the 50mb+ lines in Germany! :-) You can get faster but there's just no fast coverage everywhere...also it costs 15EUR per 1gb of data.
So....throttle your connection to 1mb and spend 2 hours and try and do anything online...you'll see why macros are the best solution if you need to update anything... or another solution is going to the beach or wine tasting since we have a long summer... ;-)
