Testing Proxies For Port 25

I'm trying to verify a ton of emails. I have 1000 socks 5 proxies.

How do I test to see if they can be used for email verifying? 

I've been told we need to test that they have port 25 open. What's the best way to do this?

    No, port25 is the normal smtp port, however, the proxy must allow you to use it for such and it must be NOT banned on the email provider you check against. The last part is more important.

    1) the proxy must allow you to use it for such -> How do we test this?
    2) So if i test against @yahoo.com and @gmail.com and it passes, it should be fine for email verification?
    3) Do email verify proxies must be socks5? Or can socks 4, and web also work for email verification?

    3) can be anything but WEB since WEB is as the name says just for websites.
